Flying Unicorn June KOM creations!

The June KOM, A Ray of Magic is fabulous!!!!  You can surely create magic with it too, LOL!!  The kit features Prima Fairy Rhymes and Pink Paislee Hope Chest along with some other complementary papers.

This is my favorite layout that I did with the kit.  Might have something to do with my subject, my sweet little poodle girls.  They really do act like small little girls and I thought this paper was just perfect for doing a girly feminine page of my sweethearts!   I did a little masking with TCW mini Kaleidoscope mask  and lots of Lindy's to color it.  The washi tape was inked with Distress ink in ripe persimmon.  All the flowers are from the kit but I colored the white ones with Lindy's Fuzzy Navel Peach.

Most everything on this layout is from the kit, I did add the peach ribbon and pearls atop the banner and the transparency that is over the photo that I've had that for years!!

Supplies: all from the kit unless otherwise noted

Patterned paper:  Prima Fairy Rhymes collection:  base-Caladee, circle - Flower Song, Prima Journaling spot stickers 563523-banners,

Ink:  Distress black soot, ripe persimmon,  Mix'd Media Inx - Chiffon (all from my stash)
Mist:  Glimmer Mist Gumdrop; Lindy's Fuzzy Navel Peach, Glory of the Sun Gold, Edelweiss Moss Green, Ponderosa Pine Olive, (all from my stash)
Masks:  TCW347s MiniKaleidoscope (stash)

The Flying Unicorn  main kit ALWAYS includes an OTP project that is different every month. Its fun to anticipate what it will e each month!  The June kit includes this fab trunk that is large enough to hold lots of things. Right now I am using mine to hold a partially completed mini book and the papers I've been using to make it.
I used Graphic 45 Birdsong (not in the kit) to make my trunk and I love how it turned out.  The flowers I used are in the kit but I did add the ivy vines from my stash.

I used Prima's 12 x 12 Flourish mask on this next layout.  I wanted to give a lacey look to the background and I thought this flourish did the trick.   These are Authentique Cherish papers and they also came in the kit.  Those gorgeous metal flowers are part of the new Flying Unicorn Adornments 2nd collection.  I just love them and I've been using them on everything.  The pearl centers are from my stash, they are Ruby Rockit and from an old kit.

Go Scrap! A new paperline from Poland coming soon to the Flying Unicorn!

The Flying Unicorn loves to find new paperlines overseas and bring them in to the US.  Here's another line that will soon be in the store, Go Scrap!  These papers are great for mixed media projects as they are a heavy weight and the graphic designs are perfect for those kind  of projects.

Having said that, I must tell you this layout is way out of my comfort zone!!  However, I persevered and I am happy with the result.  Today is my husband's birthday and no, I didn't make him a card, BUT I did make this piece of "art" that he can hang on his wall in his office.  The first thing he said when he saw it was oooo I love the bricks!

The giant heart is a Timmy grunge board cut out that I masked with TCW mini and Kaleidoscope then I layered on lots of Lindy's mists.  The inscription on the card in the center says "STeampunk Sally says be kind to your engineer!"  That is very appropriate as Dick is an engineer!

We're having a use your stash challenge at the Flying Unicorn and I am also using this as an inspiration piece.  There's lots of "stuff" from stash that's been hanging around for a while!

A new collection from 13 Arts!

13 Arts has a great new collection out, Faces of Spring, available now at the Flying Unicorn Store.  AND everything in the store is 25% off to celebrate Memorial Day weekend so hurry over and snag some of this fabulous paper.  It is such a nice weight that it will stand up to any mixed media you apply to it!

I used WRMK Lucky 8 punch, classic wreath to do the large diecut and then simply layered some of the papers from the collection.  The chippy is Dusty Attic and heat embossed with my favorite Stampedous embossing enamel.  I used Prima's static stencil to add some texture and dimension to the layout .  The dots were done with my new favorite foam stamp from Claudia Helmuth Domestic Foam Stamp collection.

The fabulous metal flowers are part of the new Flying Unicorn Adornments collection and I think they will be in the store next week.  The flowers in this newest collection are just fabulous!!

Flying Unicorn debuts Friday the Thirteenth, a new paper company

The Flying Unicorn is always on the lookout for something new, unique and not seen before!  We love being the first to bring in new paperlines from overseas and today we're happy to introduce you to Friday the Thirteenth, a new paper company in Poland.  The papers are a great heavy weight so they work well with mixed medias.

100 % paper collection is double sided and is filled with romantic lace finishes, pearls, denim and a warm sweater with lace.

Dobrze Wiedziec-Good to Know paper collection is single sided and features pastel colors on a natural background.

Jest pysznie! That's delicious! is single sided and perfect for summer with it's fresh colors reminiscent of sweet, fresh mint, ripe blueberries, melon and redolent vanilla cocoa.

I used the 100% collection on this first LO.  I was feeling kind of grungy today and the textile print on this paper was perfect for what I wanted to do.  The picture is Chili after she had been outside playing in the mud!   People often think of poodles as being very prissy and I wanted to show the dog side of poodles so I contrasted glitter and glam with distressing and grunge!

Supplies:

Patterned paper:  Fridaythe Thirteenth 100% collection:  circle - Milosci, base - Slonca; Kaisercraft Miss Match collection - frame - Bric a Brac
Letters:  Diecut with Tim Holtz Vintage Market

Diecuts and punches: Martha Stewart scallop 3 Dot
Flowers:    Prima Tatiana 566357, Recollections brown roses
Ink:  Mix'd Media Inx truffle, peaches
Mist:  Lindy's Gato Gumbo Olive, Cape Cod Coral, Fuzzy Navel Peach, Heidi Swapp Georgia Peach
Masks:  TCW mini harlequin, mini microbial,  mini and 12 x 12 tile texture, Prima Crackel 564247, used Creative Medium for masking microbial  on banners and Wendy Vecchi Embossing paste black for masking tile texture, Shimmerz Texturez brick wall for harlequin masking
Paint:      Glimmer Glam Tutu Pink, Chandelier
Other:  Prima Junkyard Findings - metal hardware, Darice grapevine hearts, Pink Paislee mistables ribbon  under banner

I created this  layout using papers from both the That's Delicious and Good to Know collections.  As you can see, I really laid on the mixed media!  In each of the corners I used Prima's lattice mask and molding paste and then really laid on the mists.

I heat embossed the gates with Shimmerz Enamelz, it really made the gates look as if they were made of metal.

My floral cluster is made with a piece of a vine I got from Michael's a couple years ago and Petaloo flowers.   I also going to show this LO in our Use Your Stash challenge as everything on this layout is old old old and I'm happy to be using some of these old things up!  Gotta make room for new, right?

Come join us in our Use Your Stash Challenge, you don't have to use Flying Unicorn products to participate in our Forum challenges, everyone is invited to play along with us using whatever supplies you wish.

Supplies:
Patterned paper:  Friday the Thirteenth Dobrze Wiedziec collection - green circle A po co, jest pyszniel! collection - base - wanilia

Flowers:    Primasprites, Petaloo camelia cardinal red

Other:   Craf-t Rub-Ons #2 & 4 kits; vine from Michael's, Kaisercraft script stamp

On this next layout I used paper from the Good to Know collection for the background page and border strips and the circle is from the That's Delicious collection.

I was in a crazy mood yesterday when I created this layout.  I was rummaging around for some flowers to use with this paper and came upon that big bright ripe persimmon (its exactly the same color as Timmy's ripe persimmon distress ink!) flower.  Well yes it is sort of an improbably color mix but I love that flower and wanted to use it.  (Funny thing about that flower, I snatched it from a throw away box that one of my scrappy buddies had put together.)    I challenged myself to "make it work" asTim Gunn would say!  I love the bright pops of persimmon with the pastel blues and teals.

The photo is of my parents with their great grandchildren taken during taken while celebrating my Dad's 91st birthday.

I used Stampendous chunky white embossing enamel on the Dusty Attic chippy.  It was a corner piece that I cut in two.  Then I dabbled on some Dew Drop ink to add the bright color.

Supplies:
Patterned paper:  Fridaythe Thirteenth - Debrze Wiedziec collection:  base - Daleko jeszcze, border strips-dlaczego?; Jest Pysznie! collection: circle-Kakoo

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you'll check out these fabulous new papers!  Today I am going to work with my favorite of the three lines, 100%.  I saved the best for last so pop by again to see what I do with that!  Happy scrapping everyone!

The Flying Unicorn store and Forums is a proud sponsor of CSI and this month our Creative Team is serving as guest designers!  Color challenges are a great way to get you thinking outside the box and  a great way to use up your stash!  I hope you'll give this case a try and be sure to post your creation in the Flying Unicorn CSI challenge thread too!

Here's my take on Case File No. 72.

Evidence:  White doily, leafy vines, metal flowers,
Journaling: 5 Things - Home, Quiet, Retreat, Peaceful, Solitude

This a picture of a pond we built just off our deck in Denver.  We lived up on a ridge and had a spectacular view.  The deck was really the most perfect place to sit and ponder life.  The tinkling water from the waterfall was so soothing after a long hard day at the office.

I used papers from the May KOM, Coffee and Muse.  The Dusty Attic chippy came from the store, the metal flowers are brand new Flying Unicorn Adornments.  They should be in the store next week.  I really love love these flowers!!  The sunflower vine is from my stash.
